Do you feel that a horse has to prove itself to be a bleeder before being put on lasix?

Good question Greyt-mom, but in my experience, if we banned the bleeders from racing, there wouldn’t be many horses left to race.

As I have worked in the horse racing industry for 5 years I would have to say I feel the trainer should be able to put a horse on lasix at their own discretion. Some horses seem to run better on lasix even some non bleeders.

How to train binocular vision at old age?

i have strabismus due to amblyopia. the different in degree of both eyes is big, leading me to use only my “good” eye to see things and my “poor” eye to get more and more lazy. recently did LASIK surgery on my poor eye to improve eyesight. now i finally start to use my poor eye to see things. my problem is i still can’t use both eyes at the same time due to lack of binocular vision. i am 20 plus years old. is it too late to train for binocular vision and how? is surgery the only option?

My recommendation is to search for a “vision therapy” specialist. There are devices (and techniques) that allow you to retrain your eyes. It can take some time, but can really be worth it. If it were me, I would avoid anyone who says it is too late or it can’t be done.
One of my guiding questions in this realm… “if nothing can be done, if it’s just genetic, why didn’t native americans and native africans ever need glasses?” If they didn’t, why do we?

Advanced conditional Formatting in excel?

i know how to do a simple pivot table, i know how to do conditional formatting line by line, i am looking for something a little more complicated.

i have a table of sales by each sale. i need to add a column and assign each sale (row) to a sales rep based on the value in the state field.

so i have a field (column really) that has all the 50 states in it.

what i want to do is add a column, and have it populate a new value based on the value in the state field.

so something like

IF=CA, AZ, NM, NV, HI THEN- “steve”

that is sort of the first part,

the more complex part is that the if/then statement needs to have about 6 possible outcomes based on the 50 states. (different territories in the US)

i am not sure if excel can do this straight up, or if it needs to be a VB script added to the fields (i have never used VB before)

so it becomes
IF(first group of states- then A), IF(second group of states-then B), IF(third… you get the picture.

any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

ok, i like the Vlookup answer, however one expanding question would be can i add multiple things in the lookup? like CA;AZ;NV etc… or do i need to create multiple fields? really just looking for whatever the separator would be.

Use the vlookup function. In an unused part of your sheet (or on another sheet), enter your data like this:

ColJ ColK
AK … Bill
HI …. Steve
GA .. Tom
NM .. Steve

Then use the vlookup formula. If the state is in B2, then the formula would look like

=VLOOKUP(B$2,J:K,2,0)

The 2 means to look in the second column (K), and the 0 means to look for an exact match.
